Editorial Standards & Disclosures

About Our Editorial Work

Who’s Hot Spotlight™ covers the people, ideas, opportunities, deals, technology, and business realities shaping music.

Our interviews and features are built around real conversations with artists, executives, entrepreneurs, creators, and other people working in and around the industry.

We prefer our stories sound like the people in them, rather than press releases.

That means preserving personality, humor, disagreement, uncertainty, strange details, strong opinions, and the occasional conversation that goes somewhere nobody planned.

It also means being clear about what belongs to us, what belongs to the people we interview, and how our editorial process works.

Opinions Belong to the People Expressing Them

Guests, interview subjects, contributors, and quoted sources speak for themselves.

Their statements, opinions, experiences, recommendations, and conclusions do not necessarily represent the views of Who’s Hot Spotlight™, its owners, editors, staff, sponsors, advertisers, partners, affiliates, or other guests.

When an article reports a person's experience or professional opinion, we try to make that attribution clear rather than quietly turning an individual's perspective into a universal fact.

Who’s Hot may also offer editorial analysis, commentary, humor, criticism, or conclusions of its own. Where context matters, we aim to make the distinction apparent.

Interviews, Quotes & Editing

Interviews may be recorded, transcribed, condensed, reorganized, or edited for publication.

Quotes may be lightly cleaned for readability by removing filler words, false starts, repeated words, obvious transcription errors, or other conversational debris.

We do not intentionally edit quotations in a way that materially changes a speaker's meaning, position, certainty, or intent.

A published narrative feature is not necessarily a chronological transcript of the conversation. Interviews may be shaped into stories, with events and subjects arranged for clarity, context, and narrative flow.

Edited or extended interview transcripts may also be published separately.

Facts, Experiences & Claims

Not everything said in an interview carries the same evidentiary weight.

We distinguish among:

Facts, which may be independently verifiable.

First-person experiences, which describe what a source says happened to them.

Professional opinions, which reflect a source's judgment based on their experience.

Editorial analysis, which represents the interpretation or conclusions of Who’s Hot.

Material factual assertions may be independently checked against available records and reliable sources. Statements that cannot reasonably be verified may be attributed to the person making them.

Publication does not transform an interview subject's personal experience or opinion into an independent factual assertion by Who’s Hot.

Our Use of Artificial Intelligence

Who’s Hot Spotlight may use artificial intelligence and other digital tools (i.e. Grammarly, Pro Writing Aid, Capcut, Adobe Firefly, etc.) as part of its editorial workflow.

Those tools may assist with transcription, research organization, source review, brainstorming, drafting, editing, headline development, summarization, formatting, or other production tasks.

AI output is not treated as an independent factual source merely because a system generated it.

Most importantly:

AI does not and will not EVER have final editorial authority at Who’s Hot. People do. And ALWAYS will!

Every published piece receives human review and final editorial approval.

Our editors remain responsible for what we choose to publish, how a story is framed, what survives the edit, and whether the finished work meets our standards.

The point of using technology is to expand what our people can do, not remove people from the editorial process.

Editorial Independence

Advertising, sponsorship, partnerships, access, affiliate relationships, or other commercial arrangements do not automatically constitute editorial endorsement.

Paying Who’s Hot does not buy a favorable editorial opinion.

Being interviewed does not constitute endorsement by Who’s Hot.

Being featured does not necessarily mean that Who’s Hot agrees with every statement, business practice, product, service, or position associated with the subject.

Likewise, criticism, questioning, or disagreement within an interview should not automatically be interpreted as hostility toward the subject.

Our job is to make the conversation useful, interesting, and worth reading.

Sponsored & Partner Content

When content is sponsored, paid for, produced in a material commercial relationship, or contains an affiliate relationship that could affect how a reasonable person evaluates the content, we disclose that relationship where appropriate.

Sponsored editorial-style content will be identified in a way intended to distinguish it from independent editorial coverage.

Affiliate relationships may also be disclosed when Who’s Hot could receive compensation resulting from a reader's action.

A general disclosure buried elsewhere on a website is not a substitute for identifying a material commercial relationship where disclosure is needed. We follow the FTC's guidance stressing that native advertising and endorsements should disclose relevant commercial relationships clearly and conspicuously.

Trademarks, Logos & Third-Party Brands

Music-industry reporting necessarily discusses and depicts companies, platforms, products, record labels, publishers, broadcasters, streaming services, entertainment properties, and other third parties.

Accordingly, third-party company names, product names, service marks, trademarks, trade dress, and logos may appear on Who’s Hot for editorial, identification, commentary, comparison, criticism, reporting, or other informational purposes.

Some such uses may occur without express authorization from the trademark owner.

Unless Who’s Hot expressly states otherwise, the appearance or mention of a third-party name, mark, or logo should not be interpreted as sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, affiliation, approval, or authorization by that third party.

All third-party trademarks and logos remain the property of their respective owners.

Who’s Hot claims no ownership of third-party marks merely because they appear in our editorial content.

Advertising Does Not Equal Endorsement

Advertisements may appear alongside editorial content.

The presence of an advertisement does not necessarily mean Who’s Hot recommends, endorses, or has independently evaluated the advertiser, its products, its services, or its claims.

Likewise, an advertiser's presence on Who’s Hot does not mean the advertiser endorses the opinions of our guests, contributors, editors, or other subjects.

Where advertising resembles editorial content, all attempts at appropriate labeling to distinguish the commercial nature of the material will be made.

Products, Services & Opportunities

Who’s Hot may discuss music-industry products, companies, deals, programs, services, platforms, contests, opportunities, organizations, or business models.

Mention does not necessarily equal recommendation.

Readers should perform their own due diligence before entering agreements, spending money, granting rights, submitting intellectual property, or making significant business decisions.

Legal, Financial & Professional Information

Who’s Hot is an editorial, news, media, and informational platform.

Nothing published by Who’s Hot should be considered individualized legal, tax, accounting, investment, financial, medical, or other regulated professional advice.

Discussions about contracts, copyright, licensing, royalties, publishing, ownership, insurance, business structures, or similar subjects are provided for general editorial and educational purposes.

Readers should consult an appropriately qualified professional about decisions requiring professional advice.

Errors & Corrections

We try to get things right.

Sometimes we won't.

If we discover a material factual error, we may correct the article. When a correction materially changes the reader's understanding of the story, we may identify or explain the correction.

Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, transcription, or style corrections may be made without a published correction notice when they do not change the substance of the story.

Updates

Articles may be updated after publication when new information, additional reporting, clarification, multimedia, corrections, or other useful material becomes available.

Where an update materially changes the substance of an article, we may identify that update.
